13/8/2018 0 Comments Visions About The Vega Star SystemA few nights ago I was stargazing and not just that night, but this whole summer my attention somehow always got caught by one particular star in the sky, the Vega Star. It shines so bright that it's barely unnoticeable. It is the second brightest star in the Northern Celestial Hemisphere after Arcturus. Vega is also called the Alpha Lyrae as it is the principal star in the constellation of Lyra. It is in fact a blue star that is apparently egg-shaped but we may still see it round from Earth. In the summer sky on the Northern Hemisphere is makes a triangle with two other stars, Deneb and Altair, hence it's called the Summer Triangle.
How did I know I was looking at Vega in the sky? I found this cool app called Night Sky that you can download on your phone and it is an interactive map of all stars, galaxies and more.
