31/7/2018 0 Comments Trip To MauiHey guys! I have just returned from my Hawaii trip! What a beautiful experience it was. I had been wanting to go there for a long time. I am grateful I could visit it in this life again. I know I had many lives on the Hawaiian Islands as we know it, and also on Lemuria which was one of the two big continents that existed here on Planet Earth. We chose to go to the island of Maui. People say it's cleaner than the touristy island of O'ahu, and it's not as crowded either. I didn't want to go to a place where there's a lot of people, and Maui was actually the perfect place to explore nature. I was really excited to see and feel its vibe and energy, to rediscover it. The moment we arrived I knew it was the place for me. Very relaxing, perfect weather with warmth and a bit of humidity with some breeze. We travelled from Los Angeles so luckily the flight was just 5 hours long. We stayed for 6 nights and 7 days. It was essential to hire a car to be able to drive around the island, so as soon as we landed that was the first thing we did. Then we headed to our apartment that was located in Kihei. We were actually going to stay in Kaanapali/Lahaina area on the West side but we cancelled that place and we booked another apartment in Kihei last minute on Airbnb. Kihei is still on the West coast but a bit more South. I much preferred Kihei to Kaanapali after exploring both areas as it was more quiet and there were less people around. I also liked the beach there that was just a minute walk from the apartment. Needless to say we headed straight to the beach after arriving. We drove down to Wailea to check out the beaches there as well. It was a bit rainy on the first day but I didn't mind as it went away quickly. The ocean felt warm and got used to it after 2 minutes of being in it. Most beaches were full of green sea turtles. I didn't even see one the first two days but later on I saw a bunch of them! They are so adorable, I loved swimming with them. Apparently you can't go close to them (has to be at least 20 feet) because they are an endangered species but a lot of people were literally around them. I couldn't not go close to them, so I did. I wanted to admire them close up, I even took underwater footage of them. They love eating the moss and seaweed on the corals in the water. I wish we could just hug them. One time I was in the water looking for them and as I was talking to someone about them, one appeared at my leg and I nearly stepped on it! But I tried to balance properly so I didn't. That was really unexpected and first I thought it was a rock because their shell felt like it! They are not afraid to be around people. I love these cuties so much, they're funny. It was quite an experience to be able to swim with them under water with my snorkelling apparel. I must say the sun was quite strong and burning. The first day I left my bronzing sun spray on the beach so I didn't actually use any sun protector during my stay. I couldn't be bothered and also because I wanted a tan. The other reason is, I didn't necessarily want to poison the ocean with that chemical. I heard it's about to be banned there because it damages sea creatures. No wonder. So the result is, I got quite tanned and slightly burnt like a crab. The sand was also hot from the sun and could't stand on it with bare feet for long if they weren't wet. I was excited to try the coffee in Hawaii. I love coffee and I was rushing to a local coffee shop called Lava Java Coffee where I got a medium roast coffee. I have to say medium roast Maui coffee equals to light roast. So I went for dark roast after that because it equaled to medium roast. So Maui coffee is not too strong. It was delicious though. I packed up on some Kona coffee too to take home. Kona is on the main island of Hawaii that's below Maui and it's famous for its coffee. Oh, Hawaii is very conscious about recycling and all the people that live there try to protect the environment as much as they can. Even the straw was made of paper! It should be like this everywhere on the planet. There were plastic cups there as well but at least they are trying to reduce the use of it. My choice of Hawaiian food was: fish, fish and fish. I love fish and it was delicious there. My favourite one was the Mahi fish that is a white fish without bones. I usually opted for fish plates and it was worth it. There were a lot of nice restaurants in Kihei so we didn't have to go far. The market area was a fun place too. There was a fudge shop where I bumped into a fellow Hungarian girl! That was funny. We made friends quickly and even she invited us to visit them in Kula that's in the middle of the island in the hills. The fudge was delicious and they had all sorts of flavours so I bought some for my family to take home with me. I also wanted to check out the Farmer's Markets where I got some fresh pressed juices and smoothies. I went to the one in Lahaina. The taste of local fruit like pineapple, papaya, banana and passion fruit were out of this world. I could live on it (I should). Along the way there were rainbows because it was raining on and off. The sun was usually out though. I also tried the acai bowl that was made with acai puree, granola and other fruits like papaya, strawberries and banana. It was yummy. We went on road trips on the island to visit different areas like Lahaina, Kaanapali and other Northern areas. The scenery was breathtaking and beautiful. I don't think I ever saw such vivid green than in the hills where it rains all the time. Honolua Bay was recommended to us for snorkelling so we checked it out. The beach had a lot of rocks and pebbles but luckily we had water shoes. It was hard getting in the water because of the rocks. I didn't even put on the fin, I prefer having bare feet because I feel a bit uncomfortable and restricted in the fins. A few people were snorkelling around and some of them went quite far out. We had to as well, because there were warm currents in the ocean at the shore and we couldn't see anything, it was misty from the warm current. The farther we went in the ocean the more scary it became. I saw some crazy big corals and a lot of different types of fish. To be honest, seeing how deep the water was and how big the corals were, I started to feel a bit scared. Then a feeling hit me 'what if I see a shark deep down there right now?'. This thought made me feel panicked and I headed out. I started swimming quite fast because this paranoia of the shark hit me. Well, they can appear anytime anywhere, it's true. At least I could make some video footage of the corals and fish underwater. We were planning to do the Road to Hana trip that everyone does when they visit Maui. It's a 12 hour trip going around the island, very exhausting. Hana is on the East coast that is very green and most farmers and hippies live there where they grow fruit and food etc. On the way to Hana there are several stops with beautiful sightseeings like the coastline, rainforest and breathtaking waterfalls. We booked it for the day before we left. We weren't sure whether we'd stop at a waterfall where they would let us swim, so the day before we went to Twin Falls that is a beautiful area with waterfalls in the forest. We made a good decision because we did not stop there on the tour. I could not wait to go in the waterfall and also to jump from the top! There were two areas there with waterfalls. Jumping from the first one was tricky because you need to cross a small current on the top. A lot of people were jumping from it though. I tried to do it but it was a bit dangerous and I didn't want to risk dying. The current was too strong for my physique. It probably would have taken me. So we headed to the second area and that was the one for me. It was way easier to jump from that one. I saw Native Hawaiian little girls jumping and climbing the rocks in front of me. So my fear dissipated even more. I am an adventurer at heart. I jumped twice and it was fun! We got to experience a bit of the nightlife in Kihei. There are many nice restaurants. I love drinks with pineapple and rum! So I usually go for Piña Colada although I don't drink much alcohol. I also tried the Ahi Poke which is raw yellowfin tuna with rice, it's delicious. We spent plenty of time on the sandy beach. I got tanned within one day being out on the beach and in the water. It's heavenly floating on top of the ocean and letting the waves carry you. The ocean was always wavy and on the first day at the beach it was very windy - so windy that the sand was scratching and hurting my skin! Besides the turtles we saw a lot of crabs coming out from the sand, they were hilarious. Two days before we left, we booked the Road to Hana tour. Well, it was a trip of a lifetime. We got up at 5:30am and the tour guide picked us up with a mini bus. There was a total of 12 people and our tour guide Fumi was an awesome guide (I still have to leave a 5 star review for it). He was half Hawaiian and half Japanese. There were many stops on the way to Hana. Fumi was talking us through the different spots and the Hawaiian history, and also making jokes along the way. The stops included Paia, Haiku, Seven Sacred Pools, Black Sand Beach, Haleakala National Park and many other places like Halfway to Hana where I got a fresh pineapple smoothie and real banana bread. They were delicious. In the hills there were a few coconut stands in the middle of nowhere on the side of the road and we stopped at one. We enjoyed some fresh coconut water and local fruits like banana, papaya, pineapple, passion fruit and coconut. You can't compare the taste you get in your home country. Black Sand Beach was also awesome although it was a beach with a lot of pebbles. The colours and the sight of this area were unbelievable. The waves at the beach were huge! It was difficult getting in the water because of the big waves, they were sucking us in quickly. We even saw some monk seals near the shore. I had a lot of fun in the water with the big waves carrying me. We only had an hour to spend there then we were off to our next stop which was Hana. We stopped at quite a few waterfalls. They were so beautiful. Mother Earth is just way too beautiful. It is real paradise. The flora in Hawaii is also incredible. You wouldn't know but many of the plants and trees were actually brought in by Polynesians when they settled on the island. One of them is the rainbow bamboo that I photographed. I think it originates from the Philippines or Thailand. A lot of the plants and animals were non-existent on the islands. A lot of animals were brought in on ships when the Hawaiians settled here. The native birds are so beautiful and colourful - many of them are now extinct, very sad. The plants can also grow very big, the rain forests are amazing. I can imagine how old some of the trees are. In the hills and the rainforest it's always humid and usually rainy. It rains there every day. We stopped in Hana for lunch. Hana was like small village, a lot of people who live there are farmers. There are a lot of waterfalls in the area, it does look like Eden. I explored the huge plants and different colourful flora there. After Hana we headed to Haleakala National Park where you can find the Seven Sacred Pools. It's a huge waterfall with seven 'pools' where people could swim. Unfortunately it has closed down because the storms destroyed the trail leading to them. There were some really big and old trees in the park. We left the area and we were travelling back home on the South coast. Some of the roads on the coastline leading to and from Hana are very scary and almost caused me heart attack because I thought the road would collapse or the rock would break off and we would all fall down. After Hana the road becomes even more rough with dirt roads. One time I couldn't even see the road under the bus! However, the scenery was beautiful and the moment came that really hit me hard. Our tour guide put on the song 'Over The Rainbow' by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole as I was looking at the coastline; the beach and the palm trees, and the whole island. It was this view. I really had to hold my tears back but I couldn't. I had to hold myself back to burst out like a crying baby though, which I managed. That song and the sight of the island brought me back memories and feelings from my past lives. I realised how much I loved this island and how well I knew it already. I felt the connection and my heart was feeling sad and happy at the same time. I can't describe the feeling. I just felt it deep within my Spirit, all the memories I had on Lemuria and Hawaii. On the way home we stopped at a cute honey stand that was selling local Hawaiian honey. They all tasted delicious. They had lemon, lavender, piña colada, banana and other flavours. They also had hand made soaps. I must say we bought a lot of gifts and souvenirs. I was really exhausted after the 12 hour tour. On our last day we spent the morning and early afternoon on the beach, I wanted to do some more under water recordings. The flight was at 10pm so we decided we would take the invitation from my new Hungarian friend and drove up to Kula that was in the mountains in the middle of the island. We had a lot of fun there and scenery was beautiful! They had goats there as well, so they made a good company while we had some red wine. Their look was priceless. I feel like these are one-of-a-kind moments that happen in our lifetime. So I fully took it in and enjoyed it. My trip to Hawaii was an unforgettable experience. I will surely go back there, probably exploring the other islands. But you never know. I am grateful I could come back here in this life. I miss it already.
